Thriller Treatment

Outline of ideas
  • We show a person running in the dark from something with a consistent shadow behind her.
  • Some of the opening titles are shown with this sequence.
  • The sound will be non-diagetic with diagetic SFX.
  • From here we show the scared women get get into her car in a panic.
  • She drops the keys in the rush.
  • Upon looking up she sees someone in the back seat of her car in the central mirror.
  • Here we have a graphic match of the Central mirror to a women looking in a mirror.
  • We also have a sound bridge of a women screaming to someone screaming on the television.
  • The girl puts down the mirror and sees someone standing underneath a street lamp.
  • A loud noise distracts the women and the guy under the street lamp disappears.
  • The women takes a bottle of alcohol leans over to poor out the drink.
  • Then the guy appears at the window.
  • Cut to the title screen.
  • The whole scene that is in the house will be diagetic sound.
Resources that may be needed

Around 2 actors, one of the actors may have to say one vocal line. Props that we may need to use would be a car, maybe a house. The settings would be a casual street at night and maybe a casual house.

Idea justification

Our idea is based on a serial killer which decides to release death upon a few innocent girls at a slumber party. The catch is are they all innocent? I think this idea is a big thing to do with the Thriller/horror genre as there will be loads of parts witch contain suspense and nail biting moments that keep you on the edge of your chair.

Research into real films

We as a group had a whole "movie night" where we just watched films and saw what we liked best and what would go best with our thriller. We watched sorority row and liked the slumber party idea and watched a few others that gave us the idea of the whole getting in the car a seeing the killer in the mirror.

Potential target audience

Our audience is pretty much anyone who is a 'thrill seeker' when they choose to watch a film, someone who would rather be sitting at the edge of their chair ready to be scared or made jump. Our film will contain allot of mystery and suspense so anyone who likes that type of thing would enjoy our film. Our main audience would be maybe between age 15 and 60. It can not be under 15 because of the gore which will be in our film. It will not be aimed at people over 60 as they may not like this type of genre especially if they have heart trouble. this however does not mean that our film can not be watched by anyone over 60.
